I saw someone on YouTube using a timber holder stand and searched for what was available. I saw the Jaw Boss reviewed and it made sense that it would be more stable since it would be attached to a truck. I've used it quite a few times now and am very happy that I made the purchase. All I have to do is pull the 6 foot to 8' lengths out of the pickup bed, insert an end into the Jaw boss and proceed to saw it into the 16" to 18" burnable lengths!
I went online looking for some kind of wood cradle design to build that would keep me from having to bend over as much and also keep the smaller diameter logs from spinning and the chain off the ground. Instead, I came across the Jaw Boss. I liked the design. It seemed to make sense, so I bought one. I opted for the secure hold it offered and the good height the logs presented when in the jaw. My first use was a dozen 4"-8" diameter logs about 6-8 feet long. It keeps the logs secure and at good cut height, I was able to zip right along for perfect firewood lengths. Can't wait to get more logs to cut!
I bought a cord of wood that was several inches too long for my wood stove, I installed the Jaw boss on my trailer hitch as per the instructions and now I have cut up the entire cord of wood to fit my wood stove not one piece of wood slipped in the job boss I cut every piece of wood straight with this device it is absolutely exactly what I needed thank you.
If you swing the base of the log as deep into the throat as you can, to get the top teeth to bite in a little, this thing works very well. Much more compact and portable than a saw buck. I use it on my ATV for processing small stuff. I highly recommend.
This has made log cutting much safer and faster. My solution was to put the hitch in my retaining wall, then I pull the Boss out of the shed when I have collected enough logs to cut. Then, up they go one the retaining wall until it’s time for the wood stove. Easy!
